Kiama Childcare

South Kiama Childcare is a thoughtfully designed centre spanning two levels, accommodating up to 112 children. With its higher-level corner location, the building’s design features two distinct roof forms that effectively break down bulk and scale, creating a welcoming atmosphere. These two forms are elegantly connected by a horizontal band, providing shelter to the lower play areas.

Our nurturing and stimulating design allows children to explore and discover the world safely and confidently. The design allows for play-based learning, featuring spacious, exciting indoor play areas, lower ground outdoor spaces, a rooftop playground and a generous sandpit that encourage creativity and interaction.

On the ground floor, families are greeted by a warm reception and sign-in area, while open-plan activity rooms accommodate twenty infants (0-1 years) and twenty (1-2 years). A thoughtfully designed central spine connects these spaces, housing a cosy sleeping area with cots, as well as change rooms and bathrooms for convenience. Additional open-plan areas cater to thirty-five children aged 2-3 years, featuring easy access to change rooms, bathrooms, and dedicated storage for art supplies and games, promoting a seamless and engaging play environment.

Behind the scenes, our well-equipped commercial kitchen prepares fresh, nutritious meals for the children, supported by laundry and storage areas. A central lift connects the two levels, ensuring smooth access for all.

The upper floor includes two spacious areas designed for 18 children aged 3-4 years and 19 children aged 4-5 years, with strategically placed storage and bathrooms for easy accessibility. Our expansive rooftop play area fosters interaction and play among different age groups, enhancing social skills and teamwork. Additionally, staff rooms and meeting areas on this floor support our dedicated educators, ensuring they have the resources they need to provide the best care and education possible.
