First Fleet Community Centre

RSL LifeCare wanted to create a seniors village and community around their existing residential aged care facilities in Penrith. They approached McNally Architects  to design a final stage masterplan to create 46 high quality, independent living residences and a community centre.

Our vision was of a friendly and open village atmosphere with residents coming together regularly to socialise and entertain friends and family. The community centre is designed to be the hub for the village and a centre for activities both planned and impromptu. The spacious interior allows large and small gatherings whilst also offering corners for solitude and relation away from others.

The BBQ areas, the bowling green and the beautiful native gardens encourage socialising and activity. The wide pathways and roads have level kerbs and are pedestrian-friendly to encourage walking and the plentiful outdoor seating creates opportunities for relaxation and for residents to gather outside.
